Jane Laura Vriesacker, of Reedsburg, died on Saturday, May 2, 2020 of pancreatic cancer at her home in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. She was born in West Allis, Wisconsin, on March 28, 1941, to (Captain, First Armored Division) Otto C. Amerell and Florence Amerell (née Rosso). Jane first saw her father after he was repatriated from a German prisoner of war camp in 1945. She graduated from Nicollet High School in 1959 and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A.) in 1964. After rejecting recruitment as an analyst for the National Security Agency, she began work as a Juvenile Officer for Sauk County Social Services; she later served as Director of the Reedsburg Public Library, and, after receiving an M.A. in Library Science, served as Circulation Coordinator of LINK for the 54 member libraries of the South Central Library System. Jane retired in 2002. She spent her final years sculpting horses in wood, reading, and riding her horse, Rowdy. Jane is survived by her husband, Jim, and her son, Jon. In following her wishes, no services will be held. All memorials should be sent to the Sauk County Humane Society. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
