Donald N “Don” Leake, age 81, of Reedsburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his residence after a short battle with cancer. Don was born on July 26, 1939 at his residence in Sauk County to John and Margaret (Noe) Leake. Don was the tenth child for them. He attended the Butterfield School for grades 1 – 8 and later attended Reedsburg High School. At the age of 16, Don quit school and decided to join the Air Force and served for six years. During his time in the Air Force, he was stationed in Texas, Japan, Missouri and New Mexico. In 1961, Don was married to Beverly Ann Radke at St. Peter’s Church in Loganville where he was also baptized and confirmed. Don was employed at various factories in Reedsburg and spent 11 years at Baraboo Sysco Foods. Don was then employed at Wieser Concrete as a driver until his retirement in 2007. Don was a faithful member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg. Don loved working on small engines, spending time with family and the many trips to Phillips. He also enjoyed snowmobling, ice fishing, trap shooting, motorcycling, cutting wood and flying model airplanes.
Survivors include his wife: Beverly; his daughters: Cindy and Jeanne; grandchildren: Jeremy, Jodi, Jarod and Autumn. He is further survived by
Dorothy Leake, of Baraboo and Rosemary Leake, of Oxford; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Gerald Radke, Kenneth and Sharon Radke; Duane and Karen Radke, all of Loganville, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Margaret; siblings: Ernest (Frances) Leake, Otis (Edith) Larson, Bernard (Oli May) Leake, Andrew (Ethel) Dusza, Arthur Leake, Norma Jean (Ralph) Bindl, Robert Leake, Charles Leake and Daniel (Evelyn) Leake; his father and mother-in-law: Walter and Lydia Radke; sister-in-law: Norma Radke and brother-in-law: Harvey Radke.
There will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Due to COVID 19, there will be a graveside service at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Reedsburg. Military honors will be provided by the Reedsburg Area Veterans Honor Guard.
