Obituary

Helen I. Cummings, 87 of La Valle, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022 at St. Clare Meadows in Baraboo. She was born March 26, 1935, the daughter of Edward and Viola Schuetz. Shortly after birth, she was adopted and raised by George and Agnes (Hurd) Borchers.

On December 22, 1979 she was united in marriage to James A. Cummings. Helen and James were blessed with six children.

Survivors include her five children; Vickie Harrison of Austin, TX, Jean (Charles) Stone of Beloit, Stacy Harrison of Tucson, AZ, Kelly (David) Buckingham of Dodgeville, and Jeffrey Harrison of Sauk City; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her biological and adopted parents, husband James, father of her children Clarence "Butch" Harrison; daughter Debbie Harrison, one great grandson; brother Raymond Borcher; biological brothers Edward Schuetz and Myron Schuetz; one biological sister Miriam Probart, and special aunt Hedwig Borchers. 

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 3 at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in La Valle with Rev. Robert Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in La Valle. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
