Lawrence Mandle “Red” Fry, age 98, of Hillpoint, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg. He was born on September 27, 1923 in the Town of Bear Creek, Sauk County, the son of Harold and Ruth (Wolf) Fry. Lawrence was a proud veteran serving his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a master of all trades; He hauled milk for many years and farmed on the home farm. He drove school bus for 15 years. He loved his bus kids and enjoyed talking about them. He considered them all friends. After retirement, he and Avis enjoyed being snow birds and traveling to Buckeye, Arizona. Lawrence was very proud of all his children and grandchildren. He said there was not a bad one in the bunch. His humor and love of people was a gift for all who knew him. He was a lifelong member of the Sandusky United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his five children: Margo (Roger) Johnson, of Lime Ridge; Donna Louis, of Belvidere, IL; Larry (Mary Kay) Fry, of Rotonda West, FL; Wendy Maginnis, of Madison and Tammy (Dave) Bauer, of Hillpoint; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy-one years: Avis; one grandchild: Paul Maginnis; one great-grandchild: Joel Neary; sons–in-law: Bill Louis and Scott Goerl; his parents: Harold and Ruth; two brothers: Everett and Wayne Fry and one sister: Betty Schulz.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Sandusky United Methodist Church, rural Hillpoint, with Pastor Elizabeth Jacobs officiating. There will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg and after 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sandusky United Methodist Church or the Sauk County Health Care Center would be appreciated.
