Mary Emma Mittlesteadt, 80 of North Freedom, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022 surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.
She was born May 14, 1942 in Washington Township, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Grell) Christian. She attended Weston Schools and graduated in 1960. She was a nurse’s aide at Sauk County Health Care for over 20 years until her retirement. On December 17, 1960, Mary was united in marriage to John Mittlesteadt. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, knitting, canning, and latch hook.
She is survived by her children, Connie (Brian) Thompson, Lynn (Tim) Ramsey, Jonnie (Traci) Mittlesteadt, Terry (Kelly) Mittlesteadt, and Lori (Chris) Dalby; grandchildren, Shaina Thompson, Zeb Thompson, Mandy Steffen, Ashley Steffen, Kyle (Aubrey) Deloe, Brogan Mittlesteadt, Lacey Stanclift, Zach (Joy) Stanclift, Kailey Thompson; step-grandchildren, Valerie Ramsey, Kasey Ramsey, Tasha Ramsey, Dakota Ramsey, and Mason Ramsey; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Ann Ruhland, Nora Schmidt, Lila (Larry) Craker, Lena Rockweiler; brother-in-law Pete Durst, sisters-in-law, Rosemary Christian, Phyllis Christian, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Brenda Mittlesteadt; siblings Raymond Christian, Martin Christian, Herman Christian, Jr., Margie Remmick, Ethel Gruenert, Sharon Durst, and Jean Goodell.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 11 AM at Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26 from 5 to 7 PM at Hoof Funeral Home and again from 10 AM until the time of service Wednesday. Burial will take place at a later date.
