Shirley M. Scoles, age 88, of Reedsburg passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022. She was born on August 27, 1933 to Torge and May (Nehls) Johnson. Shirley was raised in Kendall, WI and met the love of her life (John Scoles) at the Kendall bowling alley and that was the start of a sixty-five year marriage to her best friend. On November 27, 1952, Shirley married John Scoles at the Elroy Congregational Church in Elroy. They made their home in Elroy where they had four children. Shirley was a stay at home mom for fifteen years until their last child started school and the family moved to Reedsburg. In 1967, Shirley started working at NUK in Reedsburg until her retirement in 1995. Shirley loved her family and all the grandchildren from all three generations, loved quilting, baking and decorating cakes for family and friends, spending time in the Northwoods with family and her dog, Toby, adopting the neighborhood cats, squirrels and birds with open arms, along with many other crafts, as well as donating gallons of blood and volunteering.
Shirley is survived by her daughters: Linda (Jack) Dempsey, of Wonewoc; Sheri (Paul) Huebner, of Beaver Dam and Helen Powell, of Reedsburg; grandchildren: Steve (Nikki) Dempsey, of Reedsburg; Jenny (Nick) Baldwin, of Wonewoc; Joshua (Jayme) Powell, Adam (Jessica) Powell, Amber (Jerry) Horkan, all of Reedsburg; ten great-grandchildren: Brooke Dempsey, Brittany (Kyle) Spencer, Hunter Dempsey, Brady Baldwin, Charlee Dempsey, Ian and Asher Powell, Dane and Kendal Horkan and Calvin Powell; three great-great grandsons: Heydon, Landon and Rori; precious dog: Toby; two sisters: Eva Armstrong and Sabra Worden; four sisters-in-law: Betsy Tennyson, Nancy Dorado, Carole Fowler and Marge Johnson; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John; son: J.T Scoles; two brothers: Tom and Bud Johnson; three brothers-in-law: Gordon Scoles, Jerry Scoles and Bill Biermeier and two sisters-in-laws: Helen James and Wanda Biermeier.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Reedsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Vicki Brantmeyer officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17th, 2022 from 4 to 7 PM at the Hoof Funeral Home and again from 10 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
